SUNSHINE MOUNTAIN LODGE, Banff

Sunshine Mountain Lodge has rooms ranging from cozy to large suites. All rooms include a rustic mountain theme. West Wing Loft Rooms feature views of Lookout Mountain, in-floor heating, natural gas fireplaces, and flat-screen televisions. The upper loft has a king-sized bed, a private bath, and a flat-screen television. The main floor has a bathroom with a jetted tub, a queen bed, and a queen-sized Murphy bed. West Wing Premier Rooms include in-floor heating, natural gas fireplaces, flat-screen televisions, a queen bed, a queen-sized Murphy bed, mountain views, and a ground-floor patio. Main Lodge Suites have king-sized beds and a fireplace; a double pull-out sofa is optional. Deluxe Balcony Rooms have slope-side balconies, a queen-sized bed, a single trundle bed, and flat-screen TVs. Bathrooms include slate floors, granite countertops, and eco-double flush toilets. Deluxe Waterfall Rooms face the Waterfall run; they have a queen-sized bed and a single trundle bed. Some rooms include seating areas, terraces, tea and coffee facilities, electric kettles and free toiletries.

The resort has the Eagle's Nest restaurant that features Canadian cuisine and a lodge-inspired space, including fires and mountain views at the Lookout Lounge. The Alpine offers pizza, pasta, pho, burritos, burgers, chicken fingers, salads and fries. Mad Trappers Bar & Grill is located at the Snow School office entrance.

Guests can ride the Standish Chairlift to 2,400 m for sightseeing. The Standish Viewing Deck has views of Laryx, Grizzly, and Rock Isle lakes. The resort features Banff's largest outdoor hot tub and a cedar-lined dry sauna. There is also a fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical machine, bicycle, rowing machine, and yoga mats. Verde Day Spa offers massages, reflexology, and facial treatments; appointments must be booked in advance. Massages use certified organic creams and oils. Reflexology is a foot treatment to relieve tension and improve health. Facial treatments use Éminence Organics Skin Care products.

Sunshine Mountain Lodge sits in Banff National Park, 15 minutes from the town of Banff. The hotel is an hour and a half from Calgary, Alberta. From Calgary International Airport, drive north on Deerfoot Trail, exit onto Stoney Trail (W), exit onto Highway 1 (Transcanada West), and continue until the Banff National Park gates where a park pass is required. Continue west for 15 minutes. The Sunshine Village shuttle bus operates between the town of Banff and Sunshine Village Resort with pickup points at Banff hotels. Banff Airporter provides transfers from Calgary Airport to Banff and Canmore. Sunshine Coach provides trips from Calgary and Canmore to Sunshine Village. During summer, hotel shuttles run nightly from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. to the village.

The group sales team creates events. There is free Sunshine shuttle service. A group specialist is assigned to each group. Luggage transfers and ski storage are available. A complimentary equipment locker is located on the ground floor of the West Wing; it includes a boot drying rack. There are dressing rooms at the base check-in. Day storage is available at the Bell Desk on the Lobby level. The resort fee includes internet access, use of the fitness center, hot tub, and sauna, ski storage, snow host tours, shuttle service to Banff, family activities, luggage transfers and reserved parking. On Friday nights, a shuttle bus is available to and from the town of Banff. Check-in at Creekside Lodge to receive a parking pass and directions.
